Many consider Psalm 88 the darkest of them all—
My eyes are dim with grief.
…
Darkness is my closest friend.
(Psalm 88:9, 18.)
And yet curiously, the very next Psalm breaks open with—
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever.
(Psalm 89:1.)
It’s very strange how loud the love of Jesus is in our pain, shouting, I am here, I am your Help, I love you.
An unexpected note from a friend. A perfectly timed Bible verse. A gift anonymously left on your porch. An illogical Peace hovering amid the noise.
God is reaching into the little, dark minutes of your day, helping you along.
When the volume of your pain grows louder, His love is louder still.
…
Praying for you who find yourself aching for what could have been. There really are no words. I’m so sorry.
As we approach Mother’s Day, and my own family navigates grief, I’m reminded of how the dull ache of missing my mom can move me to prayer for others who are also aching.
In this way, Christ is already working good—as we simultaneously cry out in pain for ourselves and in pain for others. What better person suited to petition the throne of grace with confidence than one who similarly yearns?
We receive the comfort of Christ, and His comfort pours out of us onto them. Hallelujah, with God, our pain is never pointless.

What a great message and reminder. Praying for you!
XO,
Robin
