Having trouble “feeling” the stirring love of our Savior?
Sometimes feelings evade us. A long-lived faith will undoubtedly experience dry times.
Of course, our journey with Jesus is so much bigger than a feeling.
But like any love relationship, we can do our part; we can fan the flame.
So if you find yourself in the desert place today—
If you’re lacking desire—
If you’re living faith as a discipline—
1. Do your part by keeping His Word before you.
“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
(Psalm 119:103.)
2. Do your part by chasing what lasts.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
(Matthew 6:33.)
3. Do your part by talking to God throughout the day.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.)
4. Do your part by seeing people as image bearers of our Lord.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
(Genesis 1:27.)
5. Do your part by being Jesus to others.
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
(John 13:35.)
God has a gracious way of meeting us here and bringing us along.
