Louder than our pain.

When the pain flows from your eyes onto your cheeks, let His Name flow from your lips.

It may be mechanical at first. It may be a whisper. It may be through clenched teeth.

Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.

He has an uncanny way of meeting us there in our desperate praises. Not because I said it. Not because we felt it. Not because we earned it.

Because we opened our willing but unruly hearts to Him. Because this is who He is—

He is the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3)

He is the Father of compassion. (2 Corinthians 1:3)

He is the Mercy that meets us anew. (Lamentations 3:23)

He is our Help and our Advocate. (Psalm 63:7; John 14:6)

He is our Sustainer and our Strengthener. (Psalm 46:1)
