Right place, right time.

D4D93725-A56B-4D8E-978B-D4618EB6EC10I’m here to rally for the person feeling stuck in the waiting. God has given you a glimpse of something He has for you. And if God said it, it’s as good as done. It’s only a matter of time.

But you’re getting antsy and flexing your muscles and spinning your wheels trying to strong-arm God’s plan.

Your only job is to be in the right place at the right time. The right place at the right time is doing the thing God has told you to do today.

The seemingly futile or unrelated thing God has put before you.

Build the boat. (Noah)

Eat the manna. (Moses)

Herd the sheep. (David)

Throw out the net. (Peter)

Wash the feet. (Disciples)

Don’t you think there were moments that these spiritual heavy hitters wondered how in the world God would bring His profound Word out of these aimless, repetitive tasks?

Are you in this place today?

Keep showing up and being excellent with what’s before you.

You meet deadlines and perform well at a job that’s miserable.

You speak well of an ungrateful boss.

You take meals to your thankless neighbor.

You fold and put away laundry.

You sit in the chemo chair shining Light on your nurses.

You pull the trash can in.

You put your dream career on hold because it’s not time.

You change the diapers.

You arise early and devour Scripture.

You wipe the snotty nose.

You volunteer for the least desired shift.

You keep applying and interviewing.

You pinch pennies to give away your pennies.

You keep praying for the miracle.

I don’t know what God has you doing today.

But if you’re worried the role He has for you today is choking out room for the Word God spoke to you, I’m pounding the table hollering, NOT A CHANCE.

Whatever He’s asked you to do today is not a detour. It’s fertile soil for what He has for you. It’s preparation that wouldn’t come otherwise.

It’s intimacy with God. It’s submission to His plan. It’s humility because you aren’t in control. It’s mind-blowing Peace. It’s gratefulness in the smallness and simplicity. It’s trust in His Word and anticipation of His goodness.

It‘s gratefulness for who God is before He’s done what you want. It’s good habits and discipline and strong systems for stewarding God’s grand Word when it comes to pass.

That’s what today is.

Today should find you at the Father’s feet, doing whatever He’s put before you for now.

That’s the right place at the right time.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” [Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ (‭NIV‬‬).]
